“I was born in 1993 in Kabul, Afghanistan, and grew up in the capital. During my studies at Gawharshad University in Kabul, I discovered my passion for travelling. After some years, travelling gave rise to my second passion: photography.
I specialize in street photography and try to capture remarkably unique or common moments of daily life on the streets of Afghanistan. I am interested in looking at “the real” through distorted perspectives at times; while I also love the medium of photography to document the life of the common people; little and adult strangers; fellow humans moving and playing in streets and spaces of urban and rural Afghanistan.
I started with mobile photography and nowadays, work with digital cameras as I try to use new techniques that give me room to play in street photography making portraits, black and white photography as well as colored images. I exhibit my photographs occasionally in Kabul as I study and experiment with various techniques of lighting and exposure in street photography.
I am happy to share some of my images here with the Aga Khan University, Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations.”
